Moses Odubajo returns to Brentford after successful trial

Championship club Brentford have signed Moses Odubajo on an initial one-year contract with the option of a further year.

The Anglo-Nigerian was a free agent this summer after declining a new contract from Hull City in June.

Odubajo left the Bees for the Tigers on a three-year contract in August 2015 but struggled with a knee injury that kept him out of action for over 19 months.

The right-back made 53 appearances for the KCOM Stadium outfit in his debut campaign before suffering an injury in the 2016-17 pre-season that ruled him out of his side’s return to the Premier League and the entirety of last season.

The former Leyton Orient defender returned to training in February and was spotted in Celtic’s training camp in Austria earlier this summer but was unable to secure a deal despite Brendan Rodgers' confirmation of transfer talks.

He later returned to Brentford having featured in their 2017-18 pre-season campaign and has been rewarded with a chance to get his career back on track at the Griffin Park.

“Moses clearly has the qualities we are looking for in a Brentford player. He is a good personality, a quality footballer and someone who wants to get better,” manager Dean Smith told club website.

“He has had a tough couple of years with injuries but we are confident that, when managed correctly, we can get the best out of him and get him playing football to the standard we know he is capable of. We are all looking forward to working together.”

Odubajo could make his debut when the Bees battle Stoke City in Saturday's Championship fixture at the bet365 Stadium.
