Morocco got off to a surprising start in their group matches, albeit having one of the easiest draws through those first three games. Morocco has had a draw with Croatia while enjoying a 2-0 victory over Belgium and 2-1 victory over Canada. The 2-0-1 record through the group stage for Morocco granted them an easy top seed in Group F. Morocco’s defensive effort has been their primary reason for success, only allowing one goal total during the World Cup so far.

No one on the Morocco roster has truly taken hold of a leading star role offensively with the team having four different goal scorers. Hakim Ziyech, Youssef En-Nesyri, Romain Saïss, and Zakaria Aboukhlal have all done their part on that end.

Spain wound up earning the second seed in Group E behind Japan after going 1-1-1. Spain began the World Cup by dominating Costa Rica by a score of 7-0, but then drew against Germany and suffered defeat at the hands of Japan, 2-1.

Spain is led by 18-year-old prodigy Gavi who has scored once with Álvaro Morata also contributing two goals.

Let’s take a look at the current knockout round betting odds as we look for best bets and props for this Round of 16 matchup between Morocco and Spain.

Morocco vs Spain Current Odds

  • 3-way handicap: Spain (-175) | Draw (+270) | Morocco (+550)
  • Draw No Bet: Spain (-600) | Morocco (+360)
  • Over/Under Goals: Over 2.5 (+115) | Under 2.5 (-160)
  • Both Teams to Score: Yes (+120) | No (-175)

Morocco vs Spain odds are current as of Monday, Dec. 5, at noon ET from BetMGM Sportsbook.

Spain is heavily favored to win the match outright, drawing (-175) odds. Even in the Draw No Bet market, Morocco is a major (+360) longshot to advance past Spain.

Scoring markets are far more weighted toward the Under 2.5 goals for the match at (-160).

Morocco vs Spain Prediction

Spain 2-1 Morocco

The Spaniards are certainly the superior team heading into this matchup with Morocco simply being a product of a weak group. Spain has already been tested against the likes of Germany and Japan while Morocco has yet to face any team of real relevance during the World Cup.

The odds reflect the talent disparity overall, but with Spain’s offensive attack slowing dramatically over their past two matches, anything can happen. Morocco has shown the ability to have a stifling defensive effort through three matches already and if they carry that into this matchup with Spain, they could provide a major upset.

If Spain can flummox Morocco like they did Costa Rica, this match will be a lopsided one. However, I see it being a much closer affair separated by one goal.

Morocco vs Spain Betting Tips

  • Morocco and Spain have only had three World Cup matches in their history.
  • They last met in 2018 with the match ending in a 2-2 draw.

Morocco vs Spain Best Bets

➕ Spain to Win in Regular Time (-175) at BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 1.75 Units

The juice attached to this (-175) wager is something to take into account here, but I still see tremendous value here. Morocco is not battle-tested enough to handle the Spain national team and will have their hands full all match.

On paper, Spain is the far superior team between the two. While matches are not played on paper, I fully expect Spain to come out with a vengeance in their opening knockout stage match.
