Morocco coach Herve Renard has denied reports that he has made a number of prerequisites to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (Frmf) for him to remain in charge.
This comes in the wake of Morocco’s early exit from the 2018 Fifa World Cup.
The Atlas Lions exited the World Cup with one group match to spare following defeats by Iran and Portugal, before holding Spain to a 2-2 draw in their final group match last week.
A running contract that ends in 2022 appears to have secured his future.
Reports in Morocco suggest that one of the demands made by Renard is the retaining of technical director Nasser Larguet whose replacement was already being discussed by the Frmf following the expiry of his contract last week.
Renard also wants full charge of the Atlas Lions with no interference in team selection as well as recruitment of backroom staff.
Moroccan media also reported that an acrimonious relationship between Renard’s legendary assistant coach Mustapha Hadji and some senior players rocked the team in Russia and the Frenchman wants him gone.
But Renard has poured cold water on reports that he has discussed his future with his bosses or laid demands after returning from Russia.
“Contrary to what has been said in some media, I have not had any meetings since the end of our course at the World Cup. As a result, I have not been able to express any particular requirements for the future,” Renard tweeted.
The former Zambia and Ivory Coast coach’s remarks also buries speculation linking him with taking over the Algeria job from Rabah Madjer.
Morocco now shift focus to breathing life back into their 2019 Afcon qualifiers following a 1-0 losing start away in Cameroon.
They host Malawi on September 7 in their next match.
