Following round seven of the Malaysia Super League (MSL), only four clubs out of twelve changed positions in the standings.
On Friday, fifth-placed PKNS FC needed a last-gasp goal to equalise against PKNP FC in ninth place at the Shah Alam Stadium, in a match humourously dubbed as 'Der Klassikemajuan Negeri'. It was the visitors who opened the scoring, when Muhammad Safar's strike from outside of the box in the 43rd minute was deflected in by Zac Anderson. But Datuk Rajagobal Krishnasamy's men rescued a point from the match, when substitute Nurridzuan Abu Hassan headed in a corner in the dying moments of the match to tie the game at 1-1.

Third-placed Terengganu FC meanwhile were held 1-1 at home by Kedah in sixth. The hosts opened the scoring through Partiban Janasekaran's 43rd-minute strike, but the visitors found the equaliser in the 63rd minute, thanks to skipper Baddrol Bakhtiar's goal. The Turtles dropped down one spot to fourth place following the result.

On Saturday, Pahang were made to work hard by Melaka United at the Darul Makmur Stadium before they could produce a 2-0 win. Patrick Cruz found the first goal with a brilliant overhead kick in the 72nd minute, and the visitors thought they found the equaliser when Khair Jones scored four minutes from time. But he was flagged for offside, and deep in injury time substitute Faisal Halim scored the hosts' second goal of the night, and his first goal of the season, following an audacious solo move.

Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) meanwhile retained their top spot, after defeating Kelantan 2-1 in Kota Bharu. It was the hosts who opened the scoring, through former JDT man Mohammed Ghaddar's twelfth minute goal. But the Tigers equalised through Safiq Rahim's spot kick in the 37th minute, after goalkeeper Fikri Che Soh fouled Kunanlan Subramaniam. Natxo Insa scored the winner seven minutes from time, to make it four league wins in a row.

Rufino Segovia headed in the first goal of the match in the 34th minute, before former Negeri academy player Sean Selvaraj doubled their lead in the 56th minute, his first ever MSL goal and first goal for Selangor. Malaysia U-23 forward Thanabalan Nadarajah pulled one back for the visitors in the 64th minute, just three minutes after coming on, but the Deers failed to find the equaliser. The Red Giants moved up to eighth, following their first win after four straight defeats.

In the only round seven match held on Sunday, Perak recorded their third straight league win, by thumping Kuala Lumpur (KL) 3-0 at the Perak Stadium. Leandro dos Santos opened the scoring from the spot in the 27th minute, before another mistake by custodian Khatul Anuar Jalil led to the hosts' second goal in the 65th minute, this time scored by Wander Luiz. Gilmar da Silva killed the game seven mintutes later, to make it 3-0. The Bos Gaurus moved up to third place following the win, while the Hawks dropped down to eleventh place.
