Norwegian club, Lillestrøm have officially confirmed parting ways with former Kenyan goalkeeper Arnold Origi.

The two parties ended a five-year relationship that begun in 2013, but rather on a sour note after Origi sought to join England Premier League last December.

"We would like to thank Arnold for five good seasons at Åråsen - with the brilliant effort in the Cup final as the obvious highlight,” the club said in a statement.

“We have agreed to terminate the agreement, and we think it's a good solution for both the club and Arnold.”

Origi, who in early December attended trials at Crystal Palace, thanked Lillestrøm club and fans in an emotional goodbye message.

With Norwegian transfer window having closed on Thursday midnight, a free agent Origi will still be able to find a new club, though his to push for a dream move to EPL will have to wait until June.

Origi began his playing career at Mathare United before joining Tusker FC from where he went to Norway to begin his professional career.

Last August, he shocked the country when he retired from international football and also ditched his Kenyan citizenship. He had been the Kenyan number one goalkeeper for 12 years.

With Norwegian rules allowing him to take up citizenship after staying in the country for seven consecutive years, Origi opted for this route. He further could not take up dual citizenship as Norwegian laws do not allow for this.
