Bengaluru FC showed great character to come back from being a goal down to score a late equaliser through Chencho Gyeltshen.

The Bhutanese striker scored a bicycle-kick after Kean Lewis’ cross was headed towards Chencho by Sunil Chhetri.

Coach Carles Cuadrat stated that since the two teams were organised in defence, chances were at a premium. He also mentioned that a point against NorthEast United is something which he is satisfied with.

“I’m very happy with the team. We came here with some injuries to face a tough opponent. We have been competitive and neither sides had a lot of chances to score, that means both teams kept it compact in defence. We did what we had planned, take advantage of offensive situations and set-pieces.

“They were also trying to do the same and they scored. Normally, the team who scores first in such a game keeps the control but I am happy we got one point because it was difficult for us. We have to be really satisfied with the point we got. Maybe our substitutions worked better than theirs. I am happy that we have got Chencho who got us the goal and Lewis gave the cross that arrived for Sunil that gave the assist. I am happy that the substitutions worked for us,” said Cuadrat.

Bengaluru FC’s unbeaten start to the ISL 2018-19 season continued as they once again proved why they are the team to beat.

“It (Late equaliser) gives happiness. We do it game after game and become stronger mentally. We had a difficult moment when Jamshedpur scored against us in a similar time of the game. We have worked hard since,” he pointed.

The ISL would enter its’ third break later this month and Cuadrat was asked whether it would impact the momentum his team has built.

“They (The players) are going to arrive in a completely different moment, not just us but all the teams. We have to understand how that works in the competition. If there are no injuries with the national team, let's see if everyone can come fit and which teams start in which way in the last week of January,” he answered.

Bengaluru FC next face Mumbai City FC this Sunday.
