Chennaiyin FC assistant coach Sabir Pasha reckoned that the shocking defeat against NorthEast United on Friday was only due to an off day for his side. Seiminlen Doungel notched a hat-trick to sink the Super Machans in Guwahati.
"We didn’t perform according to expectations. It happens. We have been doing so good recently. It was an off day for us. We have to come back."
"This (upsetting defeat) happens as I said it was an off day. We came back strongly in the last 20 minutes, we tried. The players have been terrific so far. We can’t blame the players. So just because of one bad day, we cannot criticise the players."
Youngster Anirudh Thapa scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 76th minute. "Anirudh Thapa is a great player. Last year also he was given a chance and he scored a goal. This year also we have a lot of hope for him," praised Pasha.
"Congratulations to NorthEast United and it was great that an Indian scored three goals. It is high time for the Indians to feel that they are good footballers," he signed off.
