The World Cup winner has seen his future called into question of late, with Juventus linked with a shock move, but he has no intention of moving on

Andres Iniesta has echoed Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi in stating his desire to retire as a one-club man at Camp Nou.

An illustrious graduate of the club’s famed La Masia academy system, the talented midfielder has become an iconic figure over the course of a distinguished career.

Iniesta is, however, now 33 years of age and no longer guaranteed a starting berth, leading to reports suggesting that he could be lured away by the likes of Juventus .

The World Cup winner has sought to curb the exit talk, though, by revealing that he hopes to see out his playing days at Barca.

Speaking at the opening of an artificial football pitch at his former school in Fuentealbilla, Iniesta said: "I have always said I would like to retire at Barcelona.

"It is the club I have been at since I was 12.

"I still have years left to play at the highest level so it is too early to decide my future, but Barcelona is where I want to be and hope to be for a long time.”

Iniesta’s current contract is due to expire next summer, much like that of talismanic team-mate Messi prior to his recent renewal.

The Argentine forward has also declared his desire to spend the remainder of his playing days with Barca .

Neymar open to Man Utd...or Eibar!

Messi told Tencent Sports in June: "It's what I always wanted and dreamed. I would love to finish my career at Barcelona.”

He has moved a step closer towards achieving that goal by penning a new deal through to 2021 , but Iniesta is going to have to be patient.

He has made 630 first team appearances to date, helping Barca to eight La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns.
