How Man City & Celtic could line up for Champions League clash

Pep Guardiola will ring the changes when Manchester City take on Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

City are already through to the last 16 of the competition and will finish in second place regardless of the score at the Etihad Stadium.

With a number of crucial Premier League games coming up in December, Guardiola has admitted he will field a much-changed side against the Scottish champions as a result.

Fernandinho is banned after his controversial red card against Borussia Monchengladbach last time out, while Yaya Toure and young Spanish midfielder Aleix Garcia are ineligible.

Raheem Sterling missed Saturday's game at Chelsea and did not train on Monday, meaning he is likely to sit this one out too.

Sergio Aguero had looked set for a rest but could now feature in a bid to keep up his match sharpness. The Argentine was sent off against Chelsea at the weekend and will not be available for selection in the Premier League until December 31.

Fabian Delph has been in training for the past couple of weeks and could return, though Guardiola could spring a surprise in his midfield by using Kelechi Ihenacho or Nolito in a central role.

Celtic will be looking to end their European season with a bang.

Brendan Rodgers' men are bottom of the group and cannot salvage a third-place finish - and a spot in the Europa League - even if they beat City.

Kieran Tierney and Leigh Griffiths are out for the Scots, who will be looking to cause an upset against the under-strength hosts.

Midfielder Stuart Armstrong outlined their approach: "Ending our Champions League campaign with a win would be the ideal finish. It is a very tough competition, the performing level for the best players in Europe. If we give a good performance and continue to develop and learn then we’ll be happy."
