Harambee Starlets' poor performance in the just ended 2018 Cecafa Women’s Championship will act as a wakeup call, says coach David Ouma.

Kenya had a disastrous outing in the one week tourney staged in Rwanda after finishing just a place above the bottom.

This was a big contrast to their 2016 show in Uganda where Starlets bowed out at the last hurdle, after falling to the eventual winners, Tanzania in the final.

Kenya finished fourth, above Rwanda who came last in the five-nation championship.

Ouma termed the result as ‘diisapointing’ but vowed to pick up the lessons as they move forward.

“We are disappointed that we did not get the results we expected despite giving a good account of ourselves.

“Going forward, we will do a review of the tourney and build on the experience,” noted the coach after jetting back with the squad on Saturday evening.

Kenya won one match, drew one and lost two, finishing fourth behind Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania, who successfully defended the title having won the 2016 edition in Uganda.
