Gor Mahia fans’ request to have the matchday ticket prices for the Caf Confederation Cup tie USM Alger slashed by half has been declined by Confederation of Africa Football.
K’Ogalo will host the Algerian side in the second match of the Group D tie on Wednesday and fans will have to cough out at least Sh200 for regular tickets with a VIP ticket retailing at Sh500.
There was a proposal by Gor Mahia fans to the management to lower a terrace ticket to Sh100, but that will not happen after Caf approved the previous communication by the club that pegged the price of a regular ticket at Sh200. The tickets will go on sale on Wednesday at various locations across the country.
“As officials of Gor Mahia, we have received all concerns and request to have the matchday regular ticket at Sh100 for the Gor Mahia versus USM Alger.
“The Executive Committee of the Club had already presented to the Confederation (Caf) for approval the matchday ticket prices for VIP at Sh500 and the regular tickets at Sh200 which has been approved by Caf. To change the charges will be difficult – as per CAF rules,” read the statement sent by the club Treasurer Sally Bollo.
However, the Executive has promised to look into the issue in the subsequent games.
Bollo added that for the club requires a minimum budget of approximately Sh8 million for each of its home and away matches if Gor Mahia is to competitively participate in each of the group stage matches of CAF’s Confederation tournament.
“In order to shoulder this budget and avoid similar situations we had last time, we humbly urge you to continue supporting this great club in order to supplement our tournament budget.”
Gor Mahia are second in the log and two points behind group leaders USM Alger.
