Gor Mahia FC v Rayon Sports: Kick off, TV channel, squad news & preview

Ahead of the much-awaited battle, Gor Mahia are leading Group D with eight points while Rayon Sports are sitting third with three

Gor Mahia is on the verge of making history by reaching the quarter-finals of the Caf Confederation Cup.

Humphrey Mieno and Samuel Onyango have directly been involved in the team’s four goals after providing two assists each. Jacques Tuyisenge and Ephram Guikan have also managed to score two goals each.

Save for the two goals conceded against Yanga of Tanzania, the defense, under the leadership of captain Harun Shakava, has been very intact.

For Rayon Sports, Abouba Bashunga has been influential anytime he is on the pitch for the Rwandan side. The 22-year-old, who has one assist already, could be lethal against Gor Mahia.

Match Preview

Rayon Sports are yet to win a match in Group D and will be seeking to beat the Kenyan champions in the contest set for Kasarani Stadium.

The seventeen-time Kenyan champions were held to a one all draw in the first leg. Meddie Kagere, who is now a Simba SC player, had scored the opener for the Dylan Kerr led side in the 10th minute, before Erick Rutanga equalized for the home side fifteen minutes later.

Rayon have an outside chance of making it to the next stage, but they will have to collect maximum points against Gor Mahia and USM Alger, and pray that one of the two sides loses their two matches.

Rayon Sports captain Thierry Manzi has warned that the Blues are still in the contest, and will be looking to collect maximum points from their two games.

“We need to believe that we can reach the quarters because when you do the calculations, the chances are still there. We have to work hard and ensure we drop no point in the two games left - against Gor Mahia and Young Africans.”

Gor Mahia will rely on Rwandan striker Jacques Tuyisenge for goals but all eyes will be on midfielders Humphrey Mieno and Francis Kahata, who have been influential for the Kenyan side.
