Gor Mahia have accused striker Meddie Kagere for betraying the club, just a day after he arrived in Tanzania to seal a deal with Simba SC.

The Rwandan striker arrived in Dar es Salaam on Monday and could be unveiled on Tuesday if he agrees to the offer from the giants.

Goal also understands that Kagere will receive a sign on fee of approximately Sh600, 000 with the player earning close to Sh300, 000 a month salary and other benefits that includes a car and a full furnished apartment.

K’Ogalo through national treasurer Sally Bolo has confirmed in a statement obtained by Goal that the player was due to renew contract with the Kenyan champions on Wednesday but that could not be the case.

“You are pretty much aware about the Kagere’s case since it is in the public domain and wish to confirm that only two player’s contracts have expired and the negotiations are still on. In fact, we met Kagere and the other player on Sunday and we agreed to sign contracts on Wednesday.

“Kagere himself had asked the Technical Bench for permission to go and get his new Rwandan passport and we also gave him go ahead thinking that he will come back as agreed only to read in the press that he is in Tanzania negotiating with Simba FC.

“Oh, let me remind you guys that this is a repeat of what he did when he left the club but came back after six months to find the club doing well and on its feet. If this is the decision he has chosen to take as player, ours is to wish him well.

“This beautiful sport is also about making money and if any of our players (on contracts) feel they wish to pursue their careers with other clubs, we have no reservation than to negotiate with their new suitors and release them amicably and find a replacement just like in our places of work as fans, we also change jobs and get replaced immediately so it is a normal thing in corporate scene.”
