Plateau United’s skipper Elisha Golbe has pointed out that the Peace Boys gave their all against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday with the prospect of qualifying for the semi final of the Federation Cup but that they were unlucky to be eliminated.

The Peace Boys needed to score at least two goals to nullify the ones got by the Ikon Allah Boys in Lokoja last Wednesday but they made their task tougher when they trailed their foes by 0-2 in the first half before battling harder to level proceedings in the second half to salvage a 2-2 home draw.

He disclosed that they went into the tie with the right mentality and conviction but that it was just one of the few days all they did to get the needed goals failed to yield dividends and had to be eliminated at the quarter final stage and thus ending their ambition of ending the season with double titles.

“I will like to state that we gave the match our all but we were unfortunate to be eliminated. We played the way we had played all our entire games during the league season but it was not to be. They made things difficult for us when they capitalized on our errors to score two goals and after this qualifying for the next round became very tough,” Golbe told Goal.

“We were ready for the game on Saturday before the rain halted it. We still tried as much as possible to dust ourselves up to be ready for it on Sunday. We gave a good account of ourselves but the result didn’t share the same view.

“It is unfortunate that our desire to add the Federation Cup title to the league crown has ended cruelly. We need to reflect on this loss and think of what we must do to arrest the situation next time,” he added.
