Young Indian winger Komal Thatal has been chosen as Goal's Rising Star of the Month for October after breaking through into the first team of Indian Super League (ISL) outfit ATK.
The youngster from Sikkim shot to fame when he played for India U17 in the U17 World Cup last year in India but had since found opportunities for regular game time scarce.
The 18-year-old then decided not to play for Indian Arrows and joined ATK and that move has finally paid off.
Under coach Steve Coppell, the winger has been a regular in the first team of late and even scored his maiden goal in his senior career.
The right winger latched on to a throughball from Everton Santos in the first half against Bengaluru FC and sent an arrowing finish past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu from outside the box.
Blessed with pace, the diminutive winger has been a steady outlet for Steve Coppell's side during counter-attacks. Despite his tender years, the fact that the Englishman who prides himself on getting players to trackback and help out the defence has stuck with Komal tells a lot.
The youngster has a bright future ahead of him if he can build on this promising start.
Komal Thatal is rightly named as Goal's Rising Star of the Month!
