Patrick Twumasi scored a crucial winner as Astana secured a slim 1-0 victory over Spartaks Jurmala in their Uefa Champions League second round qualifiers at the Slokas Stadium on Wednesday.

The Ghana International put his team ahead in spectacular fashion - scoring a direct freekick from 30-yards.

The Blues and Yellows will be hoping to seal qualification for the competition's third round when they host the Latvian side in the return leg.

Stanimir Stoilov's men need at least a draw to progress and Twumasi's input will be crucial.
