Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak are in advanced talks with Swedish coach Tom Strand to replace Henry Wellington, according to reports in the local media.

The Phobians are without a substantive coach following the sacking of Frank Elliott Nuttall ahead of the new season.

Hearts of Oak are enduring a poor debut season under caretaker coach Henry Wellington and his assistant Edward Nii Odoom, who have realised just three wins from eight matches.

The club's management had been reluctant to make changes to the technical staff despite protest from some supporters, however, Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat to debutants Karela United FC probably prompted the move for a new coach.

According to Goal's sources, Strand, who previously managed Hearts of Oak’s city rivals Great Olympics, is currently in Sweden and will likely travel down if negotiations come to fruition.

The Phobians occupy ninth position with 10 points and will face Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
