Ghana to camp in Qatar ahead of 2019 Afcon

The Ghana national team will carry out groundwork for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Qatar, according to Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority.

The Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah was tight-lipped on their pre-Afcon destination while giving an update on his team last week.

However, Agyemang confirmed on Sunday that Qatar had been selected for the team’s pre-tournament camping.

"Black Stars will pitch a one-month camping in Doha, Qatar ahead of the 2019 Afcon, this shows how serious the government is to win the Afcon," he told Fox FM.

The draw for the finals takes place on April 12 in Cairo, Egypt, where the continental showpiece takes place from June 21 to July 19.

The Black Stars management committee and members of the technical team will attend the draw ceremony, according to Agyemang.

Ghana are hoping to end a 37-year wait for a fifth Afcon title following their 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982 successes.
