Gbolahan Salami steers KuPS to victory in Finland

The 26-year-old scored a second-half goal as the Yellow-blacks cruised to a comfortable win in Satuday’s Finnish topflight encounter

Nigeria international, Gbolahan Salami led KuPS to a 3-1 victory over VPS in the Finnish Veikkausliiga at the Hietalahti Stadium.

Juho Lahde got the curtain raiser for the Vepsu in the 60th minutes and Ilmari Niskanen leveled proceedings for Jani Honkavaara’s tutored side.

Salami then put the Yellow-blacks in front for the first time in the game when he fired home in the 81st minutes to score his seventh goal of the season.

Estonia international, Ats Purje sealed the victory seven minutes from the full-time to hand the Yellow-blacks the maximum points.

The result takes KuPS to the second spot on the log with 43 points from 27 matches and they will next entertain HIFK in Savon Sanomat Arena on September 24.
