Fanendo Adi bids Portland Timbers goodbye with goal against Houston Dynamo

Fanendo Adi has confirmed his Portland Timbers exit after their 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo.

Following his introduction in the 75th minute, the 27-year-old secured maximum points five minutes later in what was his final match for the 2015 Major League Soccer Cup champions.

The effort made it three goals in 14 league games for the attacker as the Timbers extended their unbeaten run to 14 games in the American top-flight this season.

Adi joined Portland Timbers from Copenhagen in May 2014 and went on to score 54 goals which make him the club’s second all-time top scorer after Diego Valeri.

After Sunday’s encounter, Adi appreciated the club for their support throughout his four years stay but it remains to be seen if he will remain in the MLS or fancy a move abroad.

"I must say I'm so thankful to the club for giving me the opportunity, and my family. I came as a young boy, but now I'm a grown man,”Adi was quoted by MLS Soccer.

“On the pitch, I've learned a lot and out of the pitch I'm now a man. There comes a time in your life when you move on, but Portland Timbers is always going to be a family to me and I'm just grateful for everything I've gotten from this organization."
