Maritzburg United head coach Fadlu Davids believes that midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu has the potential to ply his trade in Europe.

Ndlovu has arguably been one of the Premier Soccer League’s standout players this season, helping Maritzburg plot a potential title charge, and looks a shoe-in to walk away with the (PSL) Young player of the Year Award at the end of the 2017/18 season.

The 21-year-old most recently guided the Team of Choice to the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup following victory over neighbours Royal Eagles, and not only does he have his coach’s backing for the individual award but Davids believes that he is destined for a move to Europe.

“I don’t really see anybody challenging him [for the PSL Young Player of the Season award]. It is unbelievable what he has achieved so far in term of his performance. He is very good at managing the game. He knows when to slow it down and when to pick up the pace of the game," Davids said.

"That’s what he did with 10 men, sometimes you don’t have to play fast but you have to pick up the pace and that's what he has, the understanding and the reading of the game,” he added.

“You can give him any instruction, play on the right, play on the left, overload that side and overload the other side. He does precisely that. He is destined for Europe. I don’t think we should talk about the bigger clubs here in South Africa. We should think about him moving to Europe,” Davids concluded.

Meanwhile, the Maritzburg star’s exploits has certainly not gone unnoticed as he was recently rewarded with a call-up to Bafana Bafana for the upcoming four nation tournament that will be held in Zambia later this month.

But before Ndlovu can even think about making his international debut, Maritzburg will be hoping that he can give them one more man of the match performance on Friday night as they welcome Polokwane City to the Harry Gwala Stadium.
