Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan was in attendance on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium where Asante Kotoko defeated Medeama 3-1 on matchday 21 of the Ghana Premier League.

The 31-year-old arrived in Kumasi on Saturday to receive an honorary doctorate degree at the KNUST, which was awarded by Ukrainian-based Alfred Noble University.

He stayed back to watch the game together with his father, elder brother Baffour Gyan and project manager Samuel Anim Addo.

Goals from Evans Quao, Ahmed Adams and Sadick Adams were enough to hand Steve Polack's side a third consecutive league victory. They have moved one place up to third position, overtaking rivals Hearts of Oak and now five points behind leaders Wafa.

Gyan praised the two clubs when he left the stadium by the 80th minute to avoid supporters’ invasion.

"Nice game, I enjoyed myself and believe the two clubs were good on the day," he said.

Goal  understands that Gyan will meet the board chairman of Kotoko, Dr. Kwame Kyei for business discussions as well as his dream to play for Kotoko in the future.

Kotoko will travel to Tema to play Inter Allies on Wednesday while Medeama host Tema Youth at the T&A Park in Tarkwa.
