Ghana defender Daniel Opare has stated his desire to extend his contract with German topflight Augsburg amid rumours of a possible move from the WWK Arena.

With the full-back's current deal set to expire at the end of the season, Augsburg are keen to cash in on the player if unable to negotiate a successful renewal, as they face losing him on a free at the end of the campaign.

English clubs Stoke City, Everton, Swansea City and lately Leicester City have reportedly expressed interest in the 27-year-old.

“These are just rumours," Opare told Kicker.

“My advisor and my big brother are taking care of these things. They are in good conversations with Augsburg.

“I’m ready to extend my contract and I’d be glad to be able to play here for several more years.”

Opare joined Augsburg on a three-year contract in 2015 after parting ways with Portuguese outfit Porto.

A former Real Madrid youth player, the Accra-born has also played for French club RC Lens, Besiktas in Turkey, CS Sfaxien of Tunisia and local side Ashanti Gold.

At international level, Opare has featured 18 times for the Black Stars, including an appearance at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

He was also a member of the Ghana team that won the 2009 Fifa Under-20 World Cup.
