The Black Stars new striker insists he is not under any pressure as he prepares for his debut game against the Walias

Ghana striker Rafael Dwamena has played down suggestions that he is under pressure to impress Ghanaians as the Black Stars lock horns with Ethiopia on Sunday in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The 22-year-old, who plays club football at FC Zurich, is likely to be handed his debut game as Kwesi Appiah looks for a new partner for captain Asamoah Gyan.

Dwamena scored twice in the Black Stars' last preparation game against second-tier side Asokwa Deportivo and may start ahead of Abdul Majeed Waris.

“I’m not under pressure to deliver considering the training I have gone through and the moral in camp,” Dwamena was quoted as saying by Sportsworldghana.

“The moral is great enough to get us victory on Sunday. I’m a player who is also ready to fire, so once I am given the chance to start I will do my best to give the team nothing but a sweet victory.

“Therefore, I entreat the supporters to come to the stadium in their numbers to cheer us on to victory against Ethiopia,” he added.

In the other Group F game, Sierra Leone pipped Kenya 2-1 at home and currently lead the log.
