Celtic confirm transfer talks with Moses Odubajo

Moses Odubajo 'is not training' with Celtic at their pre-season base but there are ongoing talks for a likely transfer, says manager Brendan Rodgers.

The defender rejected an offer to remain in Nigel Adkins' team next season, thus, increasing his chances of joining the Hoops as a free agent after he was reportedly sighted in their Austria camp.

The 24-year-old moved to Hull City in 2015 but his stay at the KCOM Stadium was ravaged by knee injuries.

Odubajo helped the Tigers in securing promotion to the English Premier League in his debut season but did not play a competitive game in the disappointing top-flight outing and in the 2017-18 season owing to injuries.

Following his return from the sidelines in February, Rodgers, aware of his qualities, is set to give the Anglo-Nigerian a chance to redeem his career at the Celtic Park.

"He is not training with the club. We had permission from Hull. He is a player that interests us. Of course he has been out injured for a long period of time," Rodgers was quoted by SkySports.

"Just at this moment there is nothing concrete. We have invited him over to have a conversation and we will take it from there. In terms of his profile, Moses, when he is fit, is a really dynamic full-back who gets forward. He is very aggressive.

"I had seen him as a young player at Leyton Orient and then coming through the England system and through into Hull, where he had a great season in the Championship.

"It was unfortunate in that season for him in that season where they get to the Premier League, he suffers the injuries so it has been difficult for him.

"So myself and his agent and the club have had a conversation. We will look to progress that and wait see what happens over the course of the next week."
