Cape Town City's cormmercial director Michel Comitis has confirmed that plans are in place to have their own stadium, saying the City of Cape Town received and welcomed their proposal.
Comitis said the club is running at a financial loss by playing their home games at Athlone and Cape Town Stadium.
“The game-by-game financial loss increases at Athlone Stadium, compared to Cape Town Stadium, due to slightly higher costs and lower attendance numbers,” Michel Comitis, the club’s commercial director, told the Weekend Argus.
“By playing games at these facilities we have endured R600 000 in losses. These numbers only represent the amounts between the start of the season and now,” explained Comitis.
“They will rise by the end of the season,” he said.

The new stadium would accomodate at least 10 000 spectators and would cost approximately R250 million, and Comitis has urged all the other PSL clubs to consider having their own stadiums in future.
“We feel it is a direction all clubs in the PSL should consider,” he added.
“Our primary goal is to find a facility where we can train and call our home. To date, we do not even have one field,” Comitis concluded.
