Levante star Emmanuel Boateng and Bayern Munich striker Kwasi Okyere Wriedt have been praised by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah after the 2-0 victory over Japan in an international friendly in Yokohama on Wednesday.

Boateng scored one of the two goals from the spot after he was brought down in Japan's box, while Thomas Teye Partey scored the opener.

“Emmanuel Boateng had a lot more time to show what he could do and I was impressed,” Appiah said.

“In Kwasi Okyere’s case, he did not have that much time but if you want to see something from a player to determine if he will fit in or not, that can be done in about five or ten minutes.

“But then, the two players did their best especially Emmanuel Boateng and I believe they will even do more in the next game when given the opportunity,” he added.

Ghana will play Iceland on June 7 and Appiah insists he is looking beyond a victory this time around.

“The Japan game was a good exercise and so we expect the next one against Iceland to live up to the expectations. We want to build a formidable side for the future so we'll have to play high-profile opponents," he said.

“I'm looking forward to have the best from the players since we've talked about the few lapses which we spotted in the last game. We're not too much concerned about the results but how the team can work together against Iceland so that it will help us in the future,” he added.
