Preston North End fans who had to endure the embarrassment of seeing two of their own players sent off for fighting each other at the weekend will have their tickets refunded… by the guilty pair!
Jermaine Beckford and Eoin Doyle came to blows in the final minutes of the club’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough, and were subsequently dismissed.
It is understood that the fight broke out after Doyle – who scored Preston’s goal – failed to pass to Beckford inside the area.
And Preston have now issued a statement confirming that they have fined both Beckford and Doyle, and will use the money to refund the supporters who travelled to Sheffield.

Manager Simon Grayson said: “The fans who travelled to Sheffield Wednesday were let down by the actions of Jermaine Beckford and Eoin Doyle and it is only right that the fines imposed on the players are used to refund the cost of the ticket money for the fixture.
“It has been made very clear to the players and the squad as a whole that this behaviour is not acceptable by any employee of Preston North End and a swift and strong response was important, however, it has now been dealt with and the matter is closed.”
