“Lierse and the Chinese second division Beijing Renhe Football Club came to an agreement regarding the transfer of Ayub Masika. Timbe took over permanently in early July 2016 from Racing Genk. Due to the good performance of the Kenyan flank attacker this season in the League Proximus he came in sight of the Chinese club.”

The statement added, “Lierse is aware that the timing for an outgoing transfer is not ideal, but the offer from the Chinese club meant a serious added value and is also important for the financial stability of the club. It is also a great opportunity for the player that the club does not want to deprive him.

“Lierse would finally like to stress that this transfer nothing detract from the sporting ambitions of the club, where the focus is still on the race next Sunday and reaching the finals for possible promotion to 1A."

Olunga to sign for Chinese club in a record fee

Renhe joined the Chinese first class in 2015 and won one Cup and one Super Cup. Renhe are currently playing in the second division and Masika will now be a teammate to Nikica Jelavić.
