The Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has called on Ghanaian players in the domestic league to continue to give their best at club level which could earn an invitation to the national team.

The 52-year-old, who was handed a two-year contract last week, has been spotted at various stadiums in the country inspecting players during Ghana Premier League and FA Cup matches.

He is expected to name his first squad in the coming days since the Black Stars will be playing international friendly matches against Mexico and United States on May 28 and July 1 respectively.

“The local players just have to make sure they give their best anytime they represent their clubs. This is because they never know who might be watching them," Appiah told Citi FM.

"I may not always be there in person, but I may send some of my technical staff to scout on my behalf.

"But once they are performing well and many Ghanaians can attest to it, then they have every chance of a call up to the Black Stars setup like any other player in the world," he added.

Appiah will officially play his first game against Congo in August in the 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
