Katsina United chairman Aminu Kurfi is impressed with his side’s progress to the semi-final of this year’s Federation Cup after a quarter-final win over Kwara United.
The Chanji Boys defeated Abubakar Bala’s men 3-1 courtesy of goals from Destiny Ashadi, Martins Usule and Tasiu Lawal despite Segun Alebiosu’s consolation at the Agege Stadium.
Having reached the last four stages, the Katsina based outfit supremo has lauded the team for masterminding such a huge achievement as he set sights on title glory this season.
“I knew my boys would always rise up to the occasion when it matters most,” Kurfi told media.
"They are a set of young players who are willing to make name for themselves. They have proved to the whole world that football also thrives in Katsina State.
"Yes, I was not surprised at all with what the team has achieved so far. When you look at the way the boys played in the league, you would be compelled to conclude that they would achieve something great in the nearest future.
"I must also say kudos to the entire team for their doggedness. I wish to appreciate the support of the state governor Aminu Masari because he is the major pillar behind our successes.”
Katsina United will battle the winner between Enyimba and Kano Pillars in the semi-final of the competition on Wednesday, October 10 at the Agege Stadium.
