The two-time champions are in good position to make the third and final round after a positive result on the road

Ghana will go into the second leg of the 2019 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations second round qualifier against Algeria with a slim advantage following a 0-0 away draw on Friday.

Jimmy Cobblah's outfit held their own to force a deadlock at the July 5, 1962 Stadium in Algiers.

The Black Satellites, thus, have their job cut out ahead of the return leg in a week's time.

Friday's game is Ghana's first of the series after drawing a bye in the first round.

Algeria, on their other hand, beat Tunisia 5-2 on aggregate to reach this stage.

The winners of the second round exchange over two legs set up a date with Gambia/Benin in the third and final round slated for July.

Seven teams are expected to join hosts Niger for the final championship.

The Black Satellite are hoping to make a return to the U-20 Afcon after failing to qualify for the last edition in 2017.

At their last appearance in Senegal in 2015, they finished third behind winners Nigeria and the hosts.

The 2019 tournament will serve as qualifiers for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup later next year.
