Akwa United not distracted by mid-season results

The Promise Keepers reliable defender has revealed that they are not complacent despite their impressive mid-season form

Dennis Nya insists that Akwa United are not overwhelmed by their mid-season form.

Aminu Nuhu, Aniekeme Asuquo, Nya, Victor Mbaoma and Michael Ibe were on the scoresheets in the 5-0 massacre of the non-league side, Ricky Mart Academy of Port Harcourt.

However, he noted that the technical crew is still detailing them to remain level-headed and strive to improve in other aspects of their game before the long break is called off.

“It has been a good mid-season break for us and we have been enjoying every bit of it but we still remain very humble and not overconfident,” Nya told Goal.

“We know that we are not yet at the level we should be and it is our desire to continue the league season from where we left it with the away win against Yobe Stars.

"We are not disturbed by the many goals we have scored in recent matches. We know that they won’t be the same level of opposition when the league resumes.

“The wins are good for our confidence and they make us realize that we are making progress. The last friendly game was just like the previous ones we have played. We will continue to remain focused and not allow anything to distract us.”

Akwa United are second in the league table with 41 points from 24 games and they will be involved in a blockbuster fixture against Kwara United in Ilorin in their first game after the extended break.
