The Harmony Warriors gaffer insists nothing has changed about his targets with the club

Abubakar Bala has reinstated his personal target to help Kwara United retain their status in the Nigeria Professional Football League this season.

The Harmony Warriors went into the World Cup break, with a 1-0 home win over Ifeanyi Ubah - a result that moved them to 15th on the log with 29 points - one above the drop zone in May.

Despite being off the relegation zone, the gaffer insists that his side will not leave anything to chance in their quest to stay put in the Nigerian topflight this season when the league resumes.

“I’m very pleased with the commitment of the players and management of the team,” Bala told Goal.

“We did well to come out of the relegation zone before the break. Though we are not where we wish to be, I think we are making progress which I owed to the cooperation of everyone in the team.

“When I took over the team, I promised to help the team remain in the [Nigerian topflight] league and nothing has changed. My sole target is to ensure the team survives relegation.

"It will not be easy but we can achieve it. We’ve been doing well in our friendlies so far and I can assure that we’ll work hard to improve in the areas necessary before the league resumes.

“I’m confident that we will be fully ready to fight for three points against any team. We have 14 games left to play and must get as many points as possible to stay up.”
