Commentary

That is all from this game folks, until next time!
After this disappointing performance, next Hodgson's men face the challenge of hosting Leeds, while Wolves, who have moved up to third, face an away trip to Brendan Rodgers' Leicester.
Wolves deservedly claim a 2-0 win over Palace after first-half goals from Ait-Nouri and Podence. Palace did think they had grabbed the first of the game, through Batsuahyi, however, his effort was disallowed for offside. In a fairly quiet second half, neither side created much and the only real highlight was Milivojevic's late red card after referee Atkinson had consulted VAR.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: WOLVES 2-0 CRYSTAL PALACE
90' + 2' There will be two more minutes of added time as Neves is happy to play backwards, retain possession and see this game out.
Fábio Silva
R. Jiménez
90' + 1' Jimenez, who again has failed to score against Palace, is brought off for youngster Silva.
90' Traore loses possession which allows Palace to break before Eze is fouled near the touchline.
88' In his 125th Premier League appearance, that is captain Milivojevic's first red card. It is also his first red in league competition since 2016.
L. Milivojević
Red Card
86' RED CARD! After checking the VAR screen, referee Atkinson sends Milivojevic off for his right-footed lunge on Moutinho near the halfway line!
85' Moutinho is down injured after a tackle with Milivojevic. The Wolves medical team rush on to tend to the Portuguese midfielder and he gets back to his feet. VAR then has a look at Milivojevic's tackle and Atkinson decides to go and further inspect using the screen on the touchline.
C. Benteke
M. Batshuayi
84' Batshuayi, who had a goal disallowed in the first half, is subbed off for Benteke.
83' Dendoncker releases Jimenez, who feeds Traore but the winger shoots straight at the hands of Guaita.
81' Ten minutes remain in this Premier League fixture as Wolves look to see it out for the three points. They did concede late on against Newcastle, however, this time the hosts have a two goal cushion.
79' Van Aanholt floats a free-kick over the wall but also well over Patricio's goal from 25 yards out.
78' Coady and Moutinho combine excellently near the byline to deal with Van Aanholt's dangerous low left-footed cross towards the back post.
77' Wolves have managed just three touches inside Palace's box in the second half - they had 16 during the opening 45 minutes.
Adama Traoré
Daniel Podence
76' Podence, scorer of the second goal, is brought off for Traore.
João Moutinho
Pedro Neto
76' Neto, who assisted the second goal, is substituted off for Moutinho.
74' Neves crosses towards the back post and both Jimenez and Kilman end up on the floor attempting to turn it towards the Palace net. Somehow, neither manage to get a touch on it and the ball trickles out for another corner.
J. Ayew
A. Townsend
72' Ayew comes on, after recovering from coronavirus, and will replace Townsend as Hodgson looks to chase the game.
71' Jimenez goes on a searching run, beating both Dann and Kouyate before shooting tamely into the hands of Guaita.
69' Neves goes flying through the back of Clyne on the right-hand touchline and immediately apologises. Somehow, the Portuguese midfielder escapes a booking for his efforts.
68' MISS! Neto latches onto Neves' long pass and nods down for Podence, who takes his time and cuts onto his right foot before dragging his shot just wide to the left of Guaita's goal.
67' Semedo's cross is deflected and loops up in the air before Van Aanholt clears long. Ait-Nouri then finds room on the left to cross but, again, Palace defenders clear down the pitch.
E. Eze
J. Schlupp
65' Schlupp is the first change of the night as he is replaced by the more attacking option of Eze.
65' It is the captain Milivojevic who takes it but he can only steer his right-footed shot well over Patricio's goal.
65' Jimenez and Atkinson have a disagreement after the striker is deemed to have fouled Kouyate outside the area. Milivojevic, Van Aanholt and Townsend stand over the resulting free-kick 25 yards from goal.
64' Both Benteke and Ayew sit on the bench in waiting, how long will it be until Hodgson looks to his substitutes to get the visitors back in the game?
W. Zaha
Yellow Card
62' Zaha is booked for both arguing with the assistant and then squaring up with Ait-Nouri.
61' There is a bit of commotion between debutant Ait-Nouri and Zaha as the two get in each other's faces after a tackle on the right-hand touchline.
60' WIDE! Podence launches a counter-attack by feeding Neto, who covers a lot of ground down the left before crossing towards Dendoncker at the back post. The Belgian arrives late but just manages to connect with a right-footed volley in the area, however, he can only direct it wide of Guaita's goal.
59' The visitors have won three of their last five away league games against Wolves (L2), though they did lose this exact fixture 0-2 in July last season. However, that record looks set to change here as the visitors struggle to find an opening.
57' Coady shows both composure and confidence as he sells Batshuayi a dummy from within the Wolves area and then the English centre-back looks to find Jimenez with a long ball but Kouyate deals with the danger.
56' Neves is invited to shoot from range, however, his right-footed shot from all of 35 yards out is way wide of Guaita and the Palace net.
55' Zaha's cross evades all of his intended targets but does fall to Clyne, whose right-footed half volley is blocked before it can reach Patricio's goal.
54' There is nearly a bit of confusion as Jimenez looks to latch onto Patricio's long kick down the pitch, after a bit of deliberation between Kouyate and Guaita, the goalkeeper claims the loose ball.
53' Zaha feels he is fouled in the area after Milivojevic wins a few tackles, however, no penalty is given as Ait-Nouri looks to have fairly won the ball. Townsend then tries to test Patricio, again, from range but his left-footed effort is straight at the goalkeeper.
51' Neves gets his head up in the middle and plays a long diagonal to Ait-Nouri, who tries to beat Clyne but referee Atkinson says the ball has gone out and awards Palace a goal-kick.
50' Semedo beats both Van Aanholt and Schlupp but then fails to beat the first man with his low right-footed cross from near the touchline.
48' Schlupp reaches the byline and drives a low cross towards Batshuayi at the front post but the move breaks down as the Belgian striker is deemed to have fouled Coady as the centre-back got to the ball first.
46' Batshuayi is fouled by Boly and Milivojevic will have a chance to cross from a good position. The initial free-kick comes to nothing but Townsend does then test Patricio with a left-footed volley from range.
46' Both sides are back out and referee Atkinson gets the game back underway!
Hodgson will be scratching his head at half-time as he tries to figure out why his side started so slowly. The visitors did, however, find a bit of inspiration through Zaha and Van Aanholt so Palace may look towards the pair in the second half to get them back into it. For Espirito Santo's side, he will simply be asking for more of the same in the next 45.
The hosts go in deserved 2-0 leaders at half-time after dominating the opening 35 minutes of the game. Debutant Ait-Nouri opened the scoring with a left-footed half volley from the edge of the area before Podence added Wolves' second, volleying past Guaita at the back post. Down the other end, Palace have been fairly poor but have had both a goal disallowed and a penalty overturned.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: WOLVES 2-0 CRYSTAL PALACE
45' + 2' Neves does well to evade the tackle of Zaha and slides the ball out to Neto, who aims a cross towards the back post which nearly catches out Guaita and the goalkeeper is forced to tip it out for a corner.
45' + 1' The fourth official announces there will be a minimum of two minutes of added time as Neves' diagonal pass is intercepted by Clyne on the right-hand side.
P. van Aanholt
Yellow Card
45' Van Aanholt clips Neto's heel and then drags the Wolves forward down to stop the counter-attack and is rightfully cautioned by the referee.
44' Palace's left-back attempts to cross towards Batshuayi but Ait-Nouri steps in and hooks a clearance down the pitch.
42' Jimenez has now played more top-flight minutes versus Palace without scoring than against any other team.
41' Despite being dominated for the opening 30 minutes, the visitors have grown into the game a bit more and continue to have success through the combination of Zaha and Van Aanholt on the left-hand side. Unfortunately for Hodgson's men, it may be all too late as they are already 2-0 down.
39' PENALTY OVERTURNED! The referee consults the VAR team and instead concludes that Van Aanholt was in an offside position when he received Zaha's pass and awards a free-kick to Wolves inside their own area.
38' PENALTY TO PALACE! Zaha and Aanholt, once again, play short passes between each other with the left-back then dancing around Boly only to be brought down in the area. Referee Atkinson has a quick think and then awards a penalty!
37' Riedewald fires a ball into the feet of Batshuayi, who spins past Coady before being hacked down on the halfway line. Perhaps Wolves' captain is lucky to escape a booking from Atkinson there.
35' From the next corner, Dann is unmarked at the back post and heads downwards but Dendoncker is there to flick away a left-footed clearance before it can trouble Patricio.
34' Zaha and Van Aanholt attempt to exchange short passes before Semedo intervenes and concedes a corner on the left. The resulting corner then causes a few problems for Wolves but is eventually cleared out for another set-piece.
33' Numerous Palace players have their arms in the air as they feel the ball was well out on the right. The officials disagree and insist play goes on as Wolves play backwards and retain possession once more.
31' Zaha, who has largely been anonymous so far, attempts to attack Semedo on the right but the wing-back stands up to the test and wins possession back.
29' Both of Podence's two Premier League goals have come against Palace and at this rate you would have to guess that more could be on the cards here.
Pedro Neto
Assist
27' Neto is slid in by Jimenez on the right and nearly reaches the byline before curling in a cross with his right foot for Podence to score.
Daniel Podence
Goal
27' GOALLLL!!! 2-0 WOLVES! Podence volleys home with his left from inside the area to make it two. Jimenez played in Neto, who has tons of time to get his head up and find Podence at the back post to volley home through the legs of Guaita.
27' Townsend tries to get the visitors going as he finds room on his right foot but his effort is greeted by a wall of Wolves players and will only trickle through to Patricio in net.
25' OFF THE BAR! Neves collects the loose ball and tees up Dendoncker, who unleashes a right-footed half volley from 30 yards out which beats Guaita but smashes into the crossbar. That was very nearly 2-0.
23' It is like watching the same move over and over here, Wolves work the ball to the left before coming back out and spreading possession out wide to Semedo, through the long pass of either Coady or Neves. This time, Semedo crosses for Jimenez, who shoots wide with his right foot in the area.
21' WIDE! Semedo has possession on the right and instead of crossing, cuts inside onto his left and fires a wicked effort from 25 yards out towards Guaita's far post but it just goes wide of the target. The Palace goalkeeper did not look comfortable there as he scurried across his goal.
20' Ait-Nouri is the seventh player to score on their Premier League debut for Wolves, and first since Ivan Cavaleiro in September 2018.
19' It just shows what a difference a couple of minutes make, Palace and Batshuayi thought they had opened the scoring and then a minute later, the hosts go down the other end and grab the lead.
R. Aït Nouri
Goal
18' GOALLLLL! 1-0 WOLVES! Ait-Nouri scores on debut with a left-footed strike across goal from the corner of the area! Podence had initially found room on the right before Kouyate’s headed clearance fell to the feet of Ait-Nouri on the left.
17' Batshuayi has the ball in the net after some excellent work down the left from Van Aanholt, however, the Belgian's right-footed effort will not stand as the striker is deemed to be offside. VAR has a quick check and concurs with the assistant's decision.
16' The hosts have lost three of their last six league meetings with Palace (W2 D1), as many as they had in their previous 13 against the Eagles (W7 D3 L3).
15' Coady is forced into conceding Palace's first corner of the game as the centre-back deals with Schlupp's left-footed cross. Captain Milivojevic takes it but does not beat Jimenez defending at the front post.
13' After three successive corners, Palace eventually clear the danger. Semedo then attempts to send a cross deep to Jimenez, but Guaita dominates in the air and claims the cross.
12' Ait-Nouri wins the first corner of the game as he looks to attack and cross past Riedewald. Neto crosses from the resulting corner before the ball breaks to Ait-Nouri, whose shot from range is deflected out for another corner.
10' The opening ten minutes have largely been dominated by the hosts, especially through Podence on the left and Semedo finding acres of space wide on the right wing. However, the score remains at 0-0 as Neto plays backwards towards Dendoncker to retain possession in his own half.
9' SAVE! Podence finds space on the left of the area, again, this time cutting inside on his right foot and curling one towards Guaita's far post, forcing the goalkeeper to tip the right-footed effort over the bar.
7' WIDE! Podence shifts the ball past Townsend and stands up a cross towards the back post which is met by Dendoncker, who heads just wide to the left of Guaita's goal from the edge of the six-yard area.
6' Coady finds Semedo out wide for the second time already this game and the wing-back's cross is then towards Neto, who cannot quite find Podence with his cushioned header inside the area.
4' Podence is offered a lot of space outside Palace's area and finds Semedo out wide. The full-back then advances before crossing towards Jimenez, but the move breaks down as the striker is deemed to have fouled Kouyate in the air.
2' Townsend and Riedewald exchange passes before the former tees up Zaha, who dances past Semedo and fires way wide of Patricio's goal.
1' Referee Martin Atkinson blows his whistle and gets this Premier League match underway!
The players are making their way on to the pitch and shortly the game will be underway.
Palace have failed to win any of their previous five top-flight games on a Friday (D3 L2) - it’s the most a team has played on Friday without ever winning in the competition. In fact, the Eagles have never won a game in the top division on a Friday (D5 L6).
Roy Hodgson also only opts to make one change as Van Aanholt returns to left-back in place of Tyrick Mitchell, who misses out from the squad altogether with injury. Ayew also returns to the bench after overcoming coronavirus.
Nuno Espirito Santo makes only one change from the Newcastle game with Saiss dropping to the bench for debutant Ait-Nouri, who is on a season-long loan from Angers.
