Commentary

That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
A wild one at Anfield ends square as Joaquin Correa's second-half equaliser sees Liverpool held by Sevilla in their group opener, after Roberto Firmino missed a glorious chance to put the Reds two goals up from the penalty spot. Liverpool ended the game with 10 men, and Sevilla down one manager, but the difference on the night is two points dropped for the Reds, and one gained for the visitors.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: LIVERPOOL 2-2 SEVILLA.
J. Gomez
Yellow 2nd/RC
90' + 4' Liverpool down to 10 men as Gomez sees a second yellow card, though that hardly matters this late on. He will be suspended for their trip to Moscow on matchday two.
90' + 3' SEVILLA HAVE NEARLY WON IT! Gomez playing Muriel onside and them can't keep pace with the speedy striker who bursts through on goal, but he sends his effort wide of the near post!
90' + 2' These Liverpool supporters urging their side to get the ball forward, and Karius does so. Oxlade-Chamberlain makes a tidy run following the throw and he has the Reds a corner, but Wijnaldum's header on the end of Coutinho's delivery is straight into the arms of Rico.
90' The board goes up to indicate four minutes of added time, just as Liverpool win themselves a corner.
A. Oxlade-Chamberlain
Mohamed Salah
89' The final Liverpool change sees Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain enter the fray, with Salah replaced.
86' Chances have been few and far between since Sevilla's equaliser. There's a growing sense of frustration around Anfield, coupled with some real tension every time Sevilla knock the ball forward. Still time for a winner, but both sides appear more focused on not conceding than they do scoring.
D. Sturridge
S. Mané
83' Daniel Sturridge is on here for Liverpool, replacing Mane.
S. Corchia
Navas
83' Sevilla's final change is a defensive one as full-back Sebastien Corchia replaces winger Jesus Navas.
82' STAT: Sevilla have lost all three of their previous trips to England in the Champions League.
80' The tempo has fizzled out and it's Sevilla who are looking the more threatening, though the ball is largely being contained in midfield. There's more pressure on Liverpool to get the three points here, as the head-to-head record between these two could well be what determines first place in the group.
78' It's delicately poised at Anfield now as we approach the last 10 minutes with the game level at two. Liverpool's dominance has faded and they have been punished for failing to put the game to bed during their long spell on top. Sevilla's confidence is growing.
Philippe Coutinho
E. Can
76' A roar around Anfield as Philippe Coutinho comes on for his first Liverpool appearance of the season following the summer transfer saga, replacing Can for the final 15 minutes.
74' STAT: Liverpool have won just one of their eight Champions League home games against Spanish opposition (D3 L4), against Real Madrid in March 2009 (4-0).
L. Muriel
Assist
72' Muriel comes off the bench to provide the assist.
J. Correa
Goal
72' SEVILLA FIND THEIR EQUALISER! Correa, who has been their best player tonight, produces a fine touch to take a pass in stride, split the Liverpool defence and bend the perfect finish beyond Karius! It has come from out of nowhere!
71' Moreno commits a cynical foul to halt a break for Sevilla, and he's already on a yellow. The visitors shout for the referee to take action, but the Liverpool full-back escapes without further punishment! Surely that's his final chance.
L. Muriel
W. Ben Yedder
69' Luis Muriel comes on to replace Ben Yedder, making his Champions League debut, with Sevilla's second change.
68' BIG SAVE! It was more down to good positioning for Rico, but he did have to react still to deny that ferocious strike from Firmino, who has the ball pop free to him in the area following a set-piece. Liverpool continue to threaten.
66' STAT: Jurgen Klopp has reached the knockout stages in three of his four Champions League campaigns, all with Dortmund. He was beaten finalist in 2013.
J. Gomez
Yellow Card
64' Joe Gomez tugs back on the shirt of Correa following a lovely bit of skill from the winger, and he goes into the book as a result.
62' Sevilla imploding on themselves! Rico dives for a ball that's bouncing at least a few yards wide of his post, needlessly getting a touch on it to gift Liverpool a corner! Luckily for Sevilla, nothing comes of it.
60' SEVILLA DOWN A MANAGER! Berizzo is sent to the stands in his Champions League managerial debut! The ball goes out of play and into the arms of Berizzo for a Liverpool throw, but instead of handing it back to the Reds he throws it away! What was he thinking?!
58' Sevilla are showing no sign of being able to restore parity at Anfield. Berizzo will have to be pondering a change in attack, especially with the likes of Correa and Navas, the latter especially, hardly factoring into the match.
56' VITAL BLOCK! Mane's pull-back is deflected into the path of Can who runs on to drill a first-time effort at goal, but Firmino does the job of defending for Sevilla as he gets in the way to block it!
54' Matip produces a stunning run that would make the likes of Paolo Maldini jealous, but he's just thwarted at the vital moment. Liverpool continue to press on every time the get the chance, looking for that third goal that would put this game to bed.
52' Sevilla are far too negative in their approach. There's no danger for the Liverpool defence when the visitors are in possession. They really need to take the shackles off and alter their approach going forward.
50' STAT: Roberto Firmino is the 1st Liverpool player to miss a penalty in the Champions League since Steven Gerrard v Marseille (Dec 2007).
48' Composed start to the second half from both teams, but again it's Liverpool who look the more threatening. They break tidily through Mane, but the winger sees his effort blocked from inside the area after cutting onto his right and trying to bend one in at the far post.
46' Sevilla get the second half underway!
Never a dull moment in the first half from Anfield! Wissam Ben Yedder opened the scoring inside of five minutes for Sevilla in front of the Kop, but it's been one-way traffic since then. Roberto Firmino equalised for Liverpool before Mohamed Salah gave them a deserving lead with the aid of a generous deflection, but Firmino missed the chance to double their advantage late on from the penalty spot. Still in the balance ahead of the second half, but Sevilla need to be better.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 2-1 SEVILLA.
45' + 2' STRONG HAND BY RICO! That's a vital save to deny Moreno with the final kick of the first half following another stunning piece of attacking play from Liverpool!
Pablo Sarabia
G. Pizarro
45' + 1' Pablo Sarabia replaces the injured Pizarro.
44' From bad to worse for Sevilla as Pizarro seems to have picked up an injury that will force him off before half-time. He's in obvious pain as he signals over to the bench, surely sigifying the end of his night.
Roberto Firmino
Penalty Miss
42' OFF THE WOODWORK! Firmino sends Rico the wrong way, but he rings his penalty off the post! That's a massive let-off for Sevilla and a big chance missed for Liverpool!
N. Pareja
Yellow Card
42' Pareja is booked for his foul, as well. It's the third yellow issued this match, the second to a Sevilla player.
41' PENALTY TO LIVERPOOL! The Reds can take a stranglehold on the match! Moreno plays Mane through with a header and Pareja handles the ball before tugging Mane down from behind. The penalty was for the foul, not the handball, but it really could have been either.
Alberto Moreno
Yellow Card
39' Moreno lunges into a foul, completely missing the ball. It's a really hard challenge that has the Sevilla sideline up in arms, but the referee responds by producing a yellow card for the Liverpool full-back.
É. Banega
Yellow Card
38' Yellow card Éver Maximiliano David Banega
Mohamed Salah
Goal
37' FROM BEHIND, LIVERPOOL LEAD! Salah over-powers N'Zonzi to win the ball back deep in the Sevilla end, before turning and shooting from just over 20 yards. His effort takes a massive deflection off Kjaer, looping high into the air as it creeps under the bar and beyond a helpless Sergio Rico!
G. Mercado
Yellow Card
35' Mercado arrives late to a challenge on Firmino on the touchline, clipping him awkwardly from the back and the Brazilian feels the brunt of that one. Play continues, but as the ball goes out for a Sevilla goal-kick, the referee brings it back to show the full-back a yellow card.
33' Liverpool waste no time attacking when they win the ball back. Their ability to transition at lightning speed is unrivaled, and they do so here, but have to settle for a corner as Can sees a shot deflected behind.
31' Sevilla are doing their part here to suck the tempo out of the match. They continue to spend time on the ball, showing no desire to push forward, however. It almost looks as thought their only real goal here is to play keep-away from Liverpool.
29' A bit of respite for Sevilla as they enjoy their longest spell in possession since the opening few minutes. There's just no real danger being posed by them on the ball, and it's all a bit sloppy once they break into the attacking half.
27' There's a pace and intent to Liverpool that Sevilla just don't have right now. It's one-way traffic as the Reds look to snatch their first lead of the night, and you would not want to bet against them the way things are going right now.
25' STAT: Liverpool haven’t reached the knockout stages of the Champions League since 2008/09, when they were knocked out by Chelsea in the quarter-finals.
23' SHOULD BE TWO! Sevilla have no answer to the speed Liverpool possess on the break! Another scintilating counter-attack ends with Can being played clean through on goal, but he pulls his shot wide of the far post! The Sevilla defence were running around aimlessly there!
Alberto Moreno
Assist
21' Moreno provides the assist.
Roberto Firmino
Goal
21' BACK ON LEVEL TERMS! That's a goal out of the top drawer from Liverpool! Splendid interplay as they break forward, with Moreno played through on the end of a one-two with Henderson, before rifling a pass across the face of goal where Firmino is waiting to redirect it into the empty net! Stunning!
19' Sevilla remain well organised in defence, but they're dropping deeper and deeper towards their own goal as they struggle to find a way to pass out from deep in their end. They really are inviting Liverpool to attack - not what you want to do up against this sort of quality.
17' Poorly worked free-kick from Liverpool as they win one just to the left of the penalty area, a few yards out from goal. Moreno winds up sending in a cross, but there's too much height and not nearly enough pace behind it as Sevilla clear their lines with ease.
15' Liverpool remain very much in the ascendency, but Sevilla's defence is proving tough to breach. The hosts are mounting attack after attack, but the final ball has just eluded them thus far.
13' STAT: Liverpool have won their opening group game in each of their last three Champions League appearances. However, they have failed to win any of their last five group games in the competition (D2 L3).
11' JUST OVER! The ensuing corner is met by Firmino in the centre and he gets plenty of pace behind his header, but it crashes onto the roof of the net!
10' RICO SAVES! The excellent response from Liverpool continues as Mane does well to get into a pocket of space in the area and on the end of a pull-back, but his effort is parried behind smartly by Rico! They're knocking on the door!
8' Penalty appeals denied! Kjaer shoves Mane to ground, clearly blocking his path to goal without playing the ball, and despite being just a few feet away, the referee doesn't award a penalty! A bit of controversy to add to Liverpool fans' frustrations.
7' Liverpool respond admirably to the early set-back, nearly equalising inside of two minutes. Georginio Wijnaldum has a go at goal from just outside the penaly area, and his effort takes a generous deflection to leave the keeper flat-footed, but drifts inches wide of the near post!
Escudero
Assist
5' Smart running on the overlap from Escudero, whose cross somehow gets through Lovren, as he's credited with an assist.
W. Ben Yedder
Goal
5' SEVILLA STUN ANFIELD! Wissam Ben Yedder is in the right place at the right time to scrape home a simple finish into an empty net after Dejan Lovren made an absolute mess of a Sergio Escudero cross in from the left! It was a swift and smart attacking move from the visitors, but Lovren should have seen it away with ease!
3' There's a splendid atmosphere at Anfield, with these Liverpool supporters having endured a close to 500 day Champions League drought. Despite the raccous atmosphere, Sevilla start with plenty of confidence, no strangers to the European scene, in what is undoubtedly their toughest away test of the group stage.
1' AND THEY'RE OFF! Liverpool get the match underway attacking right to left in their red strip, with Sevilla in white.
Eduardo Berizzo makes five changes to his side from the victory over Eibar. Ever Banega is restored after serving a suspension on the weekend, at the expense of Ganso. Simon Kjaer, Nicolas Pareja, Guido Pizarro and Joaquin Correa are also brought into the side, replacing Daniel Carrico, Clement Lenglet, Ganso, Pablo Sarabia and Nolito.
Jurgen Klopp makes three changes from the 5-0 thumping suffered at the hands of Manchester City on Saturday. Loris Karius starts ahead of Simon Mignolet after being named the first-choice keeper for cup competitions this season, while Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren are brought into the side at the expense of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ragnar Klavan.
SUBS: Corchia, Carrico, Krohn-Dehli, Soria, Sarabia, Muriel, Vazquez.
SEVILLA (4-3-3): Rico; Mercado, Kjaer, Pareja, Escudero; N'Zonzi, Banega, Pizarro; Navas, Correa, Ben Yedder.
SUBS: Milner, Coutinho, Sturridge, Klavan, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Mignolet, Robertson.
LIVERPOOL (4-3-3): Karius; Gomez, Matip, Lovren, Moreno; Can, Henderson, Wijnaldum; Salah, Mane, Firmino.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
In last season’s group stage Sevilla lost just once in six matches, before being dumped out at the hands of Leicester in the round-of-16, a 2-0 defeat at the King Power leaving them with bad memories from their last trip to England.
Sevilla have opened their season unbeaten through five matches, but face their toughest test to date tonight against high-flying Liverpool at Anfield, a match they come into with great confidence following a comfortable 3-0 victory over Eibar on Saturday.
The last time the Reds ventured into the Champions League group stage was in 2014, winning just once from their six matches. An easier group, on paper at least, should equate to better results this time around, and a pair of victories over Hoffenheim in qualifying will have given them a timely confidence boost.
Liverpool limp into this clash on the back of a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City on Saturday, ending a four-match winning run and their unbeaten start to the season, but they didn’t have to wait long for a chance to right the ship.
Hello and welcome to live coverage from Anfield as Champions League football returns to Merseyside tonight as Liverpool host Sevilla!
