Roma hold Leicester 1-1. The hosts dominated throughout but will have to make do with a draw. Despite early chances for Leicester, Roma took the lead against the run of play when Zalewski set up Pellegrini with a superb run and pass. Maddison tried to will Leicester back into the game as he took five shots in the first half, but Roma defended superbly to keep them at bay. This pattern continued into the second half until the introduction of Barnes. Shortly after coming on, the lively winger smashed in a low cross that was helped in by Lookman for the equaliser. Leicester continued to push for a winner, but Roma fended them off to leave the score at 1-1 ahead of the second leg.

Roma lead against the run of play at half-time. Leicester started with plenty of intent and forced a succession of corners, with Castagne coming closest to opening the scoring. However, the hosts were stunned when a slick Roma move ended with Pellegrini slotting a neat finish through Schmeichel. Leicester rallied well and piled the pressure on Roma, but the visitors defended with real discipline to take their 1-0 lead into the break.
