That is all for tonight folks, thanks for joining us. Goodbye!
Milan move four points clear of Atalanta after tonight's success and in doing so they cut the gap between themselves and rivals Inter Milan. Gattuso's side are by far the finished article but with Piatek up front they have a real dangerman at the highest level. Atalanta will look to bounce back after their unbeaten run comes to an end after a sloppy second-half display.
Gattuso’s side come from behind to earn all three points against Atalanta. The home side produced a solid first-half performance to take the lead through Freuler but his goal was cancelled out on the stroke of half-time by Piatek. The forward produced a stunning volley before Milan then took the lead in the second half. Calhanoglu’s drive was unstoppable before Piatek grabbed his second of the night by heading home a corner.
90' + 1' Four minutes of stoppage time...
90' For the third time in the second half, Ilicic tries his luck from the edge of the Milan box but this time he fires past the far post.
R. Rodríguez
Yellow Card
88' Rodriguez goes into the book after chopping down Ilicic from behind. He can have no complaints about that one.
D. Laxalt
Lucas Paquetá
87' Final change for Milan sees Pacqueta replaced by Laxalt.
83' Atalanta look like they need a miracle if they are to rescue a point tonight.
81' CHANCE! Atalanta work the ball down the left wing before a deep cross causes problems for the Milan defence. Ilicic manages to find Kulusevski with his cutback but the substitute volleys straight at Donnarumma.
80' We have a break in play here as Bakayoko requires treatment for an injury.
Musa Barrow
D. Zapata
78' A change up front for Milan as Barrow enters the game in place of Zapata.
Samu Castillejo
77' Another change for Milan as Suso is replaced by fellow winger Castillejo.
75' For the second time in six minutes, Castagne drifts inside and tries to beat Donnarumma. But for the second time, the keeper does enough to deny him.
75' Milan break forward with Paqueta but his first touch is heavy and Atalanta are able to scamper back and clear the danger.
73' Atalanta are pushing forward but they have yet to bring Zapata into the game.
70' SAVE! Atalanta break down the right wing and Castagne gets space to shoot but his shot is saved at the near post by Donnarumma.
69' Ilicic finds space in the box after cutting in from the touchline and he tries his luck with a near-post shot. His left-footed effort does worry Donnarumma before sailing past the goal.
P. Cutrone
K. Piątek
68' Despite grabbing a brace, Gattuso has decided to bring off Piatek and replace him with fellow striker Cutrone. He was desperate to stay on but a foot injury appears to have got the better of him.
66' Before tonight,  Milan had scored the fewest headed goals in Serie A this season with one. Piatek's effort now makes it two for the campaign.
R. Gosens
H. Hateboer
65' After a quiet night, Hateboer is replaced by Gosens.
63' Atalanta have gone from being in control to now struggling to create chances. Big 30 minutes for the home side now.
H. Çalhanoğlu
61' Calhanoglu has changed his fortunes around in a matter of minutes. Before half-time he had barely had a touch but now, he has a goal and assist to his name after he delivers the goods for Piatek.
K. Piątek
61' GOAALLLL - Atalanta 1-3 Milan - A bullet header from Piatek puts Milan two up in this Serie A clash. He grabs his second of the night after timing his run to perfection from a corner. When Calhanoglu's cross was played in, he was behind the penalty spot, but the striker gets to the near post and beats Berisha with ease.
60' Milan are piling on the pressure here and they win a corner...
D. Kulusevski
A. Gómez
59' A surprise change here as Gomez is replaced by Kulusevski.
57' To put it bluntly, Milan have scored two fantastic goals tonight. Can they grab a third?
H. Çalhanoğlu
55' WHAT A STRIKE!!! Atalanta 1-2 Milan – Calhanoglu sends the away fans wild with a stunning effort from the edge of the box. Atalanta defender Hateboer produced a poor clearance and Calhanoglu reacted quickest so that he could have a shot. He took one touch out of his feet before smashing the ball past Berisha.
54' Gomez gets into a good position on the edge of the Milan box, but he gets too excited and blasts his shot into the stands.
53' While he is normally one of Gattuso's most trustworthy players, Kessie may be the first player off the park. He has given possession away cheaply tonight and he is struggling to win his individual battles.
50' While Milan have scored a superb goal, Gattuso will be wary of losing the midfield battle again. His team need to do more in that department before the home side score again.
48' Just like they did in the first half, Atalanta have started well in the early stages of the second half. Zapata has created the first chance but nobody in a home shirt follows his cross into the box.
46' We are back underway!
Milan have not done enough to bring Suso and Calhanoglu into the game and they are losing the midfield battle. Gattuso may look to change his tactics at the break but Atalanta will feel they can still win if they keep up this current performance level.
The referee brings an end to the first half and the Milan fans will be struggling to calm down after Piatek's strike just before the interval. That effort has stunned the home fans after they dominated the first 45 minutes. They got their reward after Freuler opened the scoring, but they wasted their other opportunities. Milan punish them at the perfect time and the second half should now be very interesting.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME - Atalanta 1-1 Milan.
R. Rodríguez
45' + 1' Rodriguez grabs the assist and his cross was inch perfect for team-mate Piatek. Atalanta should not have given him so much space and he takes full advantage.
K. Piątek
45' + 1' GOAALLLLLLL! Atalanta 1-1 Milan - Sublime. Simply sublime from Piatek with what looks like the last kick of the first half. Milan looked destined to share the lead at the break, but Rodriguez decided to carry the ball over halfway. Piatek demanded the ball and it came from the left wing and he has somehow managed to volley over his shoulder and into the far corner.
45' One minute of stoppage time...
43' Milan have offered nothing since going behind and Gattuso will have his work cut out at the interval if they keep this up.
40' Challenges from both teams are now flying in and the officials need to regain control of this game before it gets out of hand.
38' Milan need to hold on here before half-time. They showed signs of promise earlier in the half, but Atalanta have now taken control and they could get a second if Gattuso's men are not careful.
36' WIDE! Milan fall asleep in defence and that allows Gomez to find space in central midfield. He has time to let fly with a right-footed shot but he cannot keep it on target and it sails past the far post.
R. Freuler
33' WHAT A GOAL!!!!! Atalanta 1-0 Milan - Gasperini's troops keep the ball for over a minute and pass their way around the park. They eventually get into the box and Illcic cuts the ball back looking for a team-mate. Two or three Atalanta players make their way into the box and it is Freuler that fires towards goal. His right-footed shot is saved by Donnarumma but he does not do enough and it trickles over the line behind him.
J. Iličić
33' Illcic deserves plenty of praise for that goal after a determined run into the box. He could have rushed his cross but he stayed calm and picked out Freuler for the opener.
30' Milan work their way into the box, but nothing comes of the move after Piatek goes down. He pleads for a penalty but the officials tell him to get on with the game.
Yellow Card
27' Suso joins De Roon in the book after he chops down Castagne on the left touchline.
25' Goals are expected tonight - Atalanta have scored 50 so far: their previous record at this stage of the competition was 42 in 1955-56.
23' Atalanta win a free-kick but Gomez's delivery is not good enough and Milan clear the danger with a simple header.
20' Atalanta win their third corner of the night but Djimsiti heads Gomez's cross over the bar and that was never going to trouble Milan goalkeeper Donnarumma.
M. de Roon
Yellow Card
18' De Roon becomes the first man to be carded tonight after a lazy tackle in midfield. The former Middlesbrough man was on the floor before bringing down Paqueta.
15' The game has calmed down now and it is the close contest we expected before kick off.
13' WIDE!!! Milan are given too much space down the right wing and Suso takes full advantage before crossing for Kessie. The midfielder peels away at the far post before diving for his header but he cannot keep his composure and directs his attempt wide.
12' OVER! That move appears to have woken Milan up and they pile forward with Kessie but he blazes his shot over the bar after entering the box.
11' Milan finally get forward and into the Atalanta box for the first time, but the move breaks down after Piatek is flagged offside.
10' Nothing comes of the latest set piece and Milan will get the chance to build out from the back.
9' Atalanta win a corner after Rodriguez turns a cross behind his goal which was intended for Ilicic.
7' While it is still early days, Atalanta are dominating proceedings and looking the better of the two teams.
5' CHANCE - Atalanta win a second corner and create the first real chance of the match but Djimsiti cannot convert. He meets the set piece with pace before heading over the crossbar.
3' Bakayoko takes an age to clear the danger from the edge of his own box and he gives the ball to Zapata who wins a corner after his drive is deflected.
2' The home side make a fast start to the game and pile forward before Milan eventually clear for a throw-in.
1' We are underway. Atalanta in their traditional blue and black kit, while Milan are in their all-white strip.
The two teams are now out on the field and we are just minutes away from kick off.
Atalanta are unbeaten in the last seven league meetings against AC Milan, having lost six of the previous nine.
Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini makes just one change after the win over SPAL last time out. Mancini drops out of the starting XI, with Djimsiti coming in. Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso decides to stick with the same team that beat Cagliari 3-0 on February 10.
