Esperance and Raja Casablanca take their Maghreb rivalry to Qatar when they clash in the Caf Super Cup on Friday

The two North African sides have each won the Caf Super Cup before and they are both gunning for a second title.

They now shift turf of their Maghreb derby to the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium in the Qatari capital Doha.

Wydad Casablanca are the Caf Super Cup holders.

This will be the first time the Caf Super Cup is being staged outside the African continent. The Thani Bin Jassim Stadium, Al-Gharafa, in Doha the capital of Qatar will host this year’s edition.

Interestingly, Raja Casablanca coach Patrice Carteron will be facing Chaabani who defeated him in last year’s Caf Champions League final when the former was at Al Ahly.

Interestingly, Esperance was defeated by a Moroccan side (Maghreb de Fez) in the Caf Super Cup final of 2012. Now they face another Moroccan opponent in Raja Casablanca.

Ironically, Raja Casablanca was defeated by a Tunisian side (Etoile du Sahel) in the 1998 Caf Super Cup. They now come up against another Tunisian opponent in Esperance.
