The two Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams are set to clash in the 2018 Telkom Knockout Cup final at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
Bakgaga have been labelled underdogs ahead of their maiden appearance in a major cup final, a tag which their coach has embraced.
“I would be happy if we are called underdogs," Nyirenda said when speaking to the media.
Bucs will be making their ninth appearance in the South African League Cup final having won the tournament once (in 2011).
"We are going into this game against a team that has won many trophies, including the Caf Champions League," the Zambian tactician continued.
"And zero on our side, so, we need it more than them," Nyirenda added.
The former Zambian national head coach also indicated that his players are hungry for success as they look to upset the Soweto giants.
"I think every player in the team knows what is expected of them, a few of them have won trophies before, while the rest have never won a trophy,” he concluded.
Bakgaga will look to their senior players Letladi Madubanya, Davies Nkausu and Thabiso Semenya, who have won major trophies in South Africa.
Pirates are hoping to clinch their maiden trophy since 2014.
