Efforts by Wazito to come back into the match bore no fruits as the soldiers gave them no chance to do it

Ulinzi Stars moved to second place in the Kenyan Premier League table after downing newbies Wazito 2-0 at Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday.

The Soldiers dislodged Mathare United, who were held to a 0-0 draw by Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium from second place, following the victory over the league debutantes.

The soldiers started the game well, pinning their opponents in their half, but were still unable to get an opener at the breather, with several chances going begging.

But things were to change after the break. Elvis Nandwa broke the deadlock before setting Masita Masuta for a second.

Efforts by Wazito to come back into the match bore no fruits as the soldiers gave them no chance to do it.

Wazito will feel relieved with the fact that the visitors failed to capitalize on their late chances, notably Oscar Wamalwa, who could not beat the custodian.

Gor Mahia leads the pack with 30 points after playing twelve games, two points more than second-placed Ulinzi Stars, who have played three games more.
