Following their recent signing of Macedonian central defender Jasmin Mecinović, Super League strugglers Melaka United have made further announcements on the movement of their players in the recently-opened mid-season transfer window.
According to an announcement made by the club on its social media on Wednesday afternoon, they will retain the services of star striker Ilija Spasojević and South Korean midfielder Jeon Woo Young's services, while veteran Malaysia international Amri Yahyah will be released to former club Selangor.
Both Spasojević and Jeon Woo have made 10 league appearances this season, with the Montenegrin having scored three goals, and the South Korean four.
In the meantime, a Brazilian midfielder, Felipe Almeida De Souza will undergo a trial with them, with head coach Eric Williams making the final decision.
"A midfielder from Brazil, Felipe Almeida De Souza will attend a trial this week and it's up to head coach, Eric Williams to make an evaluation before signing him," stated the club in the announcement.
With Mecinović's arrival and De Souza's trial, it seems that their centre back Godwin Antwi and forward Sergio Aguero will on their way out.
The club also added that they have given a trial to two players with mixed Malaysian heritage; JDT II's Nicolas Ryan Swirad, as well as 26-year old Jordan Yong; formerly of King’s Lynn Town FC.
