Sundowns sign Lebohang Maboe from Maritzburg United

The Team of Choice had vowed not to sell any of their players to local clubs, but Sundowns tabled an offer they couldn't refuse

Mamelodi Sundowns have officially completed the signing of Lebohang Maboe from Maritzburg United.

The Pietermaritzburg-based outfit had promised to keep their best players from last season, but Sundowns managed to convince them to sell Maboe.

Sundowns took their social media platforms to announce Maboe's signing, underlining their intent to continue dominating the South African football.

Maboe, who was also believed to be on the wanted list of Kaizer Chiefs, said joining Sundowns was a dream come true.

The 23-year-old South Africa international will be expected to compete with Sibisiso Vilakazi for a place in the Sundowns starting line-up.

Following his scintillating performances for the Team of Choice last season, there will be huge expectations on Maboe from the Sundowns fans this season.

However, he will have to work his socks off to play regularly under Mosimane.
