Sofapaka keeper named in KPL All Star squad for Spain tour

Sofapaka keeper Mathias Kigonya is among 20 players shortlisted for the All Star that will tour Spain for a series of friendly matches in July.

According to a list obtained by Goal, AFC Leopards youngster Vincent Oburu has also made the cut alongside Gor Mahia keeper Paul Odhiambo. The team was selected by coach Stanley Okumbi and will be trimmed to 18 players before departure. Okumbi will be assisted by John Kamau.

A statement from KPL stated, “In follow up to recent signing of KPL-LaLiga Partnership, this is to confirm that a KPL All Star team made up of players currently playing in the 2017 Premier League season have been invited by LaLiga to visit Spain from Monday, July 17, 2017, to Tuesday, July 25, 2017. During their visit to Spain, the KPL All Star team will play two friendly matches with two teams from LaLiga123."

The statement added, “LaLiga will cater for the air tickets and full-board accommodation of the entire KPL All Star team. More details of the team’s visit to Spain will be revealed at a Press Conference in due course.”
