Sofapaka honors departed captain Johnson Bagoole with victory

Ezekiel Odera's brace helped defending champions AFC Leopards knock out Rain Forest with 4-0 victory in Naivasha

Sofapaka sailed to the round of 16 of FKF Shield with a 3-0 victory over Baba Dogo United in an emotion match staged at Camp Toyoyo.

Batoto Ba Mungu wore a black armband in remembrance of the departed former captain, Johnson Bagoole, who succumbed to meningitis. Sofapaka captain Mathias Kigonya missed Baba Dogo match as he was away to represent the club in the burial of fellow compatriot.

Ugandan Umaru Kasumba, Stephen Waruru and Piston Mutamba delivered the message with a goal each in the victory that the club dedicated to their departed hero.

Mutamba, who joined Sofapaka from Wazito, scored his second goal in his second match for the Elly Kalekwa owned side. Sofapaka now joins fellow KPL sides, Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Kariobangi Sharks, Tusker and Vihiga United in the last 16.

Earlier on defending champions, AFC Leopards beat Rain Forest 4-0 with Ezekiel Odera hitting a brace. Vihiga United also registered an identical scoreline against Vigpro at Karuturi Grounds.

Western Stima also booked their place in the next round after edging out Bidco United 4-2 in a penalty shootout after both teams played out to a stalemate in regular time.
