Amajita are on the cusp of greatness as they look to book their place in the final of the U20 showpiece event

The South Africa national U20 side will be keen to look beyond their recent Fifa U20 World Cup qualification and conquer the continent for what would be a maiden accomplishment for the Southern African nation.

Amajita as they are affectionately known, have shown great promise and could even be considered a golden generation, but only if they are able to reach the final of the competition.

But standing in their way is a Senegalese team, who are ready for a fight, and after registering wins over African giants such as Ghana, Mali and a hefty win over Burkina Faso, it will take a concerted effort to eliminate them from the tournament.

Thus, South Africa coach Thabo Senong and his troops have their work cut out, as the clash against a physical Senegal outfit is set to be their toughest yet.

Although, South Africa have been without wonderkid Lyle Foster after he completed a move to French giants Monaco, Amajita have still shown their quality.

Worrying though is that they have scored just two goals on their road to the semi-finals.

This is likely to see Senong perhaps alter his attack.

Luke Le Roux and Siphesihle Mkhize are the only Amajita players to have found themselves on the scoresheet, while Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has registered one assist.

Senong may opt to utilise Sundowns winger Promise Mkhuma who came off the bench in the win against Burundi.

But while Amajita might not be the most free-scoring team, at the back they are a real force to be reckoned with. Conceding just one goal in their group.

Their defensive prowess will almost certainly come to the fore as they come up against the likes of Youssouph Badji, who is Senegal’s top scorer with three goals.

However, it not just the forward that Amajita needs to be wary of off but also their playmakers Faly Ndaw and Amadou Sagna.

The duo have contributed two assists and they will hope to build on their recent success over the Burkinabe.

This will be just the second meeting between the two junior sides.

The last time these two sides met in the tournament, Senegal walked away with a 4-3 win, and Amajita might be determined to change that around.
