Bruges’s Lior Refaelov scored the injury time penalty to give his side all the three points. This was the first time Samatta played for a full 90 minutes since his return from a knee injury.
The former Simba man, played for 180 minutes in two Taifa Star’s friendly games during the FIFA calendar week, first, in the defeat against Algeria and next in the 2-0 victory over DR Congo where he scored the opening goal.
The defeat leaves Genk in fourth place without a point in this playoff round, while Brugge go second with 3 points behind Gent only on goal difference.
In the next game, Samatta’s Genk will welcome Standard Liege who defeated Sporting Charleroi.
