A double from the Senegalese striker ensured that Liverpool regained their momentum late in the Premier League title chase.

Our WIKO Game Changer Sadio Mane was solely responsible for Liverpool’s resurgence against a tough Tottenham side at Anfield.

The Senegalese was the hero as the Reds recorded their first Premier League win of 2017 with a 2-0 victory over Spurs who were left floundering.

Mauricio Pochettino's men were not at the races for the opening 30 minutes particularly and had survived a couple of nervy moments even before Mane broke the deadlock in the 16th minute.

Liverpool made their dominance count when Mane grabbed a quickfire double, showing a cool head to lift the opener over Lloris despite being off balance having eluded Davies.

Just 138 seconds later, Mane finished off a goalmouth scramble after Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino had been denied.

Ben Davies was caught napping and the game could have been put out of sight before the break, but Hugo Lloris denied Mane a third with a fine save.

The Senegal international’s display was the kind opponents pick out as their answer to the ‘toughest player you’ve had to deal with?’ question - he was direct, menacingly quick, determined to win back possession and relentless.

With Mane in the mood, superbly supported by Philippe Coutinho, Lallana and Firmino, the Reds kept coming and Spurs could not find the solutions to jar their attacking juggernaut.

"You need somebody who scores at the end! He did fantastic and could have scored a third one," Klopp said of his speedster.

The result means Liverpool have taken 16 points from a possible 24 against fellow top-six sides and they climb to fourth, back above Manchester United and one point behind second-placed Spurs.
