Wednesday’s semi-final clash between Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens in the Federation Cup has been suspended by the Nigeria Football Federation.
The suspension comes after a protest filed by Sunshine Queens of Akure, protesting that Edwin Okon’s side fielded two ineligible players in a 2-0 quarterfinal loss at the Lafia City Stadium.
For the Owena Babes, the Port Harcourt based side paraded ineligible players in Alice Ogebe and Yetunde Adegboyejo, whose brace saw the Akure based girls crash out of the competition.
As a result, the NFF have put the semi-final clash between the 2016 finalists on hold till its the NFF Disciplinary Committee make a verdict on the protest on Wednesday.
The winner of the quarterfinal protest between Rivers Angels and Sunshine Queens will now face Bayelsa Queens on Friday, October 12 for the rescheduled game in Enugu.
However, the other semi-final encounter between Ibom Angels and Edo Queens will go ahead at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Wednesday.
