The 25-year-old Brazilian looks set to smash the transfer record held by Paul Pogba if a reported €222 million deal to Parc des Princes goes through.
A transfer would be the culmination of intense pressure on the Catalans to sell, while Neymar has remained an almost mute presence throughout.
That attitude, moreover, has not pleased some Blaugrana fans, with some taking to the streets to register their disgust.
Barcelona fans have put up a poster outside Camp Nou with Neymar's photo and calling him a mercenary. They want him out of the club. pic.twitter.com/J7nuHFgU2z— Sán (@Zizouology) 1 de agosto de 2017
"Wanted: Traitor," the yellow-backed poster which appeared around the city on Tuesday exclaimed, alongside a photo of the former Brazil captain.
"Mercenarios get out of Barca, only players who love the shirt."
The last player to be barracked so relentlessly by the Catalan crowd was Luis Figo, who caused uproar by swapping Barca for Real Madrid.
And while PSG cannot compare to their fiercest rivals, it is clear that Neymar's role in this transfer saga has not covered him in glory in the eyes of the Camp Nou faithful.
